What we study

Linking environmental evidence to infectious disease transmission

Our work combines environmental microbiology, epidemiology, molecular methods, genomics, and quantitative modeling to understand pathogen circulation across human, animal, and environmental systems.

Environmental surveillance

We develop and apply environmental sampling approaches to detect pathogens in wastewater, air, water, and other complex matrices.

One Health transmission

We study how pathogens move among humans, animals, and shared environments, with a focus on zoonotic and emerging infections.

Infectious disease dynamics

We combine environmental measurements with epidemiologic and genomic data to understand transmission, exposure, and population-level risk.

Featured research

From environmental detection to transmission insight

Environmental surveillance can reveal pathogen circulation that traditional clinical surveillance may miss. Our work asks not only whether pathogens can be detected in the environment, but what those measurements tell us about transmission, exposure, and public health action.
